Day 8: Ripley (continued...)

I think Felix is going crazy. He's been mumbling nonsense, talking about brains and some scrape on his leg. Some of the others took him into a room to check him out.

The affected aren't exactly what I would have expected if someone had said, hey, Ripley, everyone's going to be taken over by some virus/plague/fungus/etc but you're going to be left normal. Not even close. Here's why:

1. They don't seem particularly interested in eating us. The only thing they've ever done to us is attack, like when they attacked Hawkins. Once they bit him, and he changed, they left him alone and turned on the rest of us.

2. They seem to be most active at dawn and dusk. I see them laying in the grass, getting covered with morning dew.

3. Pastor Ryan, in his note, said they liked the basement.

4. When they travel, it's in the same place over and over again, in a single file.

5. They grow green gunge all over them.

It's definitely odd. Their behavior reminds me of the ants I used to watch in my backyard as a child. They obviously prefer cooler times of day, and moisture. I've also noticed some seem to have some kind of horn growing from the back of their neck, where the head meets the neck. I've never seen anything like it.

Also, Hawkins was unaffected until he was bitten. Will that be the fate for some of us? Are we immune until that point?
